Nearly all the areas commercial and retail establishments are located within the "Village" which serves as a hub for the area. Surrounding residential communities enjoy a range of environments from the elegant country estates of Barrington Hills to family friendly Tower Lakes to the luxury town homes of Lake Barrington Shores.
Encompassing over 93 square miles, Barrington boasts magnificent natural beauty including plentiful woodlands, an abundance of lakes, rivers and wetlands, and generous park and recreation facilities including five parks districts and hundreds of miles of equestrian trails.
The Barrington School District is comprised of one high school, two middle schools and six elementary schools. HSD 220 is among the most renowned districts in the State. The districts students consistently test among Illinois leaders and the faculty is highly praised. Barrington High School has a consistently high graduation rate with virtually all of the graduates choosing higher education.
